On January 21 1871 Marie Solheid and François Reiff took off to Marie’s native village to settle their marriage. They decided to take the shortest route: across the High Fens, a rough and dangerous nature area with unpredictable weather conditions and a long and dark history of strange dissapearances. They would never reach their goal: the couple died in the middle of the Fens, desorientated and struck with hypothermia. On the location where they past away people placed the Lover’s Cross, in remembrance of François and Marie. Musician TOUR (Stijn Segers, 1977) discovered the story and fell in love with it. He wrote 4 music songs that tell the story and took off to the area with female singer Dienne BOGAERTS, film maker Martijn PILLARDS, producer Luuk COX and fashion designer Branko POPOVIC to record the songs and to make FAGNARDS, a strange mix of music video, drama and nature documentary.
